Toriano Brown

Entrepreneur

Toriano Brown originally from Batesville, Mississippi came to Huntington, WV in 1999 on a Prop 48 football scholarship under the great Coach Bobby Pruett and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling. Growing up in MS, Brown always had a love of cooking by watching his mother. No matter what the occasion; food, family, and fellowship were the center of it all.
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina caused massive destruction along the coasts of Louisiana, Alabama, and his home state of Mississippi. To bring aid to his family, Brown started cooking and selling meals; A protein and your choice of 2 sides for $6.50. He utilized his talent and love for his family and cooking to raise over $1000. In 2006, Brown continued with his passion for cooking and enrolled in the culinary program at Marshall Community & Technical College, now known as Mountwest, where he was taught under the mentorship of Chef Larry Perry. After 1yr, Brown decided to withdraw from the program after he learned that specific program which at the time was not fully accredited, and opened up his own business with a small Storefront on 12th St & 4th Ave in Huntington, WV- where he prepared and sold meals. Though Brown had the passion and knowledge of cooking, he lacked the necessary business skills needed to keep the business operating.
As years passed, Brown never gave up on his dream of having his own catering business. In 2015, Brown started Covenant Catering. The name arises from Brown’s sacred agreement between him and God. To put God first above everything and in return he will be forever blessed and favored. Not only does Brown own Covenant Catering, he now owns and operates Thunder Wheels Truck, where the food is unHERD of!!!
