Bruce Felder
Bruce Felder is a Huntington native who joined Marshall University in 2014 as the Director of Human Resources. In July 2022, he was promoted to Chief Talent and Culture Officer and now serves as a member of President Brad D. Smith’s Cabinet. Before his work at Marshall, Felder was the Human Resources Manager at Cabell Huntington Hospital for 13 years. Felder also dedicated 20 years to the U.S. Army National Guard, serving two overseas deployments. During his 14-month deployment to Iraq in 2005-2006, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his achievements in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Reflecting on this experience, he describes learning the true meaning of perseverance in temperatures that soared to 140 degrees.
A graduate of Marshall University (Class of 2002), Felder earned a double major in Business Management and Management Information Systems (MIS). He went on to complete a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University in 2007 and, in 2022, graduated with a Master’s in Jurisprudence in Labor and Employment Law from Tulane Law School. He holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and a Master’s Certificate in Human Resource Management from Villanova University, along with several other certifications in human resources, leadership, and management.
Felder and is a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington, WV, where he serves as a Deacon. He has a heart for service to others and holds several board positions. He serves as President of the Fairfield West Neighborhood Association, Chair of the Board for both Unlimited Future, Inc., and The Tri-State Bible College, and is a member of the Fairfield West Community Development Corporation.
In his free time, Felder enjoys landscaping and small remodeling projects. He humorously admits to a hidden ambition of working with the Property Brothers on HGTV—a dream he often jokes about fulfilling after retirement.
