Joseph "Joe" Hill

Pastor

Joe Hill was born in Wheeling, WV. His family moved to Huntington in 1985. He attended Gallaher Elementary School, Cammack Middle School, and Huntington High School. He continued his education at Marshall University and graduated in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences.

After a brief time in Maryland, he and his family moved back to Huntington in 2008, so he could complete his Master of Divinity Degree at Methodist Theological School in Delaware, OH. While working on his degree he worked as an in-school mentor and tutor at West Middle School, Director of Youth and Children’s Education at First United Methodist Church and as a resident chaplain at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

In 2011, Joe was appointed Associate Pastor at Johnson Memorial UMC where he led the youth ministry and the Common Grounds ministry with the homeless community. In 2014 he was appointed as senior Pastor to Cross Roads UMC. Since 2017, Joe has served as a Conference Superintendent, first for the Parkersburg area and now for the Nine rivers District which includes the United Methodist Churches and Pastors in Cabell, Wayne, Mingo, Lincoln, Putnam, and Kanawha counties.

He credits the pastors who influenced his ministry and hopes he can help church and communities to offer themselves fully to their communities, to be the expression and the experience of God’s love, peace, hope, and purpose to everyone and anyone.
