Georgia Cheeks

Georgia Cheeks was born in McDowell County in 1941. Her family moved to Huntington when she was a teenager. Georgia worked as a domestic engineer, raising her children until she went to work at the Cabell County Public Library, where she retired after twenty-six years of service.

These days she enjoys the activities at the Marie Redd Senior Center and the YMCA. She is an active member of the Sixteenth Street Baptist church, where she enjoys Bible Study, Sunday School and singing in the choir.

Georgia can be heard singing around her home and often sits outside while working word search puzzles or reading her Bible.
