Fannette Thornhill-Scott, MD, MPH

Dr. Fannette Thornhill Scott, a board-certified pediatrician was born in Huntington, WV, and graduated from St. Joseph Central Catholic High School. She attended Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, then neighboring Meharry Medical College, graduating in 1982. She also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

Dr. Thornhill-Scott supports Fisk University and Meharry Medical College as a financially active member of their alumni associations and she and her family have endowed The Sott-Thornhill Scholarship at Meharry Medical College and the Fannette Thornhill-Scott Scholarship at Meharry National Alumni Association. (designated for medical students with children and financial needs).

She is an active member of The Links, Incorporated and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Through these organization she has found an outlet for her community service work in various communities in which she has lived, including Louisville, Kentucky; Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Wichita, Kansas; and Birmingham, Alabama.

Dr. Thornhill-Scott has journeyed to Africa the past twenty-six years to donate time, medical knowledge, supplies and resources to several village in Ghana. In June 2014 she was enstooled as a Queen M0ther of Ahwerase Akuapem, a village of 2,500 people in the eastern region of Ghana. As education and health are required for success in life, the Queen Mother has identified ways to improve health and education of the village community for intellectual development and sustainability.
