Leonard White

Internal Medicine

Dr. Leonard White was recruited by Dr. Joseph Shapiro to come to Marshall University School of Medicine in 2013. Dr. White grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and is the middle child of his parents’ five sons. After completing high school, he attended and graduated from Montgomery Community College in Maryland with an associate’s degree. He continued his studies at Southern Illinois University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Toledo.  He served 16 years in the Navy as a Corpsman moving with the Marines. Dr. White serves in many capacities here in Huntington – he works at Marshall Health, sees patients at Valley Health, teaches at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and is affiliated with Ebenezer Medical Outreach and Wheeling (WV) Hospital.

Dr. White is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, the American Medical Association and is actively involved in the community supporting many programs, especially the Greyhound basketball team.

He has committed himself to educating the community about health care issues and to providing a better understanding about quality health care. And when he finds leisure time, he enjoys painting, especially watercolors, and he is teaching himself how to play the acoustical guitar.
