Harry Tolliver

Army Veteran/Head of Food Services at Barnett Childcare Center

Harry Tolliver was an Army veteran who used his skills he learned in the military to serve the Fairfield community and his church.

Known to many in the Fairfield community as “Mr. Harry,” Tolliver loved providing meals as the head of food services for children at the Barnett Child Care Center. He was especially known for making delicious grilled cheese sandwiches. He took great pride in his work, and he continued working at the Child Care Center until he was no longer physically able. He also was active at his church, Full Gospel Assembly, for more than 20 years providing landscaping, janitorial services or serving as a trustee, quartet member usher and in the kitchen ministry.

One of Tolliver’s most fulfilling forms of ministry was being involved in the “X-Men,” a ministry of men who had conquered something in their past and wanted to make use of their ability to overcome. These men had a testimony to give, and Tolliver was always glad to give his.
