Kohson Perkins

Information Technology Director

Kohson K. Perkins is the Information Technology Director for the City of Huntington, a position he has held since 2018.

Perkins moved to Huntington from McDowell County after high school and received his degrees from Marshall Community & Technical College and Marshall University and soon began working in the information technology field. After working for a local IT company, Kohson was presented the opportunity to become the IT Coordinator for the Huntington Police Department.

Although originally hired under a grant, Perkins quickly proved his value to the department and was hired full-time. After displaying great knowledge, training and experience in the field, he was promoted to Information Technology Director for the City of Huntington at the end of 2018. His efforts have improved multiple systems and processes, streamlined communication platforms, and provided the City with unprecedented cybersecurity protection for more than a decade.

When Perkins is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and is an amateur cook with aspirations of becoming a professional chef.
