Lisa Martin
After graduating from Bluefield High School, Lisa Martin moved to Huntington to attend Marshall University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in political science.
She worked in the foster care system as a treatment program director for more than 15 years before returning to Marshall to work in Student Affairs.
Martin is actively involved in several organizations on campus and works with various community agencies, including the Sexual Assault Response Team; Cabell County Substance Abuse Prevention Partnership; Underage Drinking Committee and Drug Summit Committee; the Working Group of Government Opportunities; and the Strategic Planning Committee. Lisa is a board member of the Fairfield Community Development Corporation and served as chair of the search committee for the corporation’s firs executive director in 2020.
Martin is a member of the Ebenezer Medical Outreach board of directors and is the secretary for the A.D. Lewis Community Center Advisory Board. She has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. since 1988 and served as the graduate advisor to the undergraduate chapter from 2009-11. She is a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians.
Martin was a board member for Dress for Success River Cities and served as board president from 2011-17. She was a member of the Family Foster Treatment Association Board of Directors and served as a board member of the Youth Advisory Council. She also served on the Barnett Child Care Board of Directors and was president from 2005-07.
Martin currently is the director of student conduct and student affairs at Marshall. She loves to cook and regularly treats her friends to homemade meals.
