Byron Leftwich

Byron Leftwich is a former quarterback for the Marshall Thundering Herd who went on to have a successful playing and coaching career in the NFL.

With the Thundering Herd, Leftwich twice received Mid-American Conference Most Valuable Player honors. He was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the seventh overall pick of the 2003 NFL Draft. Leftwich held a starting role with the Jaguars during his first four seasons and spent the remainder of his career as a backup for the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the Steelers, he was a member of the team that won Super Bowl XLIII.

Following his retirement, Leftwich began a coaching career under Bruce Arians with the Arizona Cardinals. He rejoined Arians as the offensive coordinator of the Buccaneers, a position he held from 2019 to 2022, and helped the team win Super Bowl LV.
