Kelli Johnson

Associate Dean of Libraries/Marshall University

Dr. Kelli Johnson earned her bachelor’s degree in parks and leisure service from Marshall University. She went on to earn her master’s degree in adult and technical education in 2004, and another master’s degree from Texas Women’s University in library science in 2007. She returned to Marshall where she earned an EDS in leadership studies in 2015 and an EDD in leadership studies in 2016.

Dr. Johnson currently is the associate librarian at Marshall and the inaugural and acting director of the Center for Appalachian Poverty Solutions. She holds memberships in several organizations, including the Black Caucus of the American Library Association and Appalachian Association. She has taught classes in literature and English. She has done extensive research on Black history and minority librarians and made presentations to countless groups. She is a board member of the Fairfield Community Development Corporation, the Fairfield Alliance and also served as chair of the Mayor’s Diversity Advisory Committee.
