Reggie Giles

Reggie Giles came to Huntington, WV to attend Marshall University. He holds a distinction rare among Marshall University Athletes – he played on conference championship teams in both football and basketball. Reggie was a member of the Thundering Herd’s Southern Conference Basketball Champions in 1986-1987 and he also ran track during the 1986 and 1987 seasons; however, he was best known for his play on the football field. As a cornerback, Reggie shattered the Marshall interception records, picking off 19 in his career and returning them for 309 years.

Even after graduating from Marshall University, he continued to display his versatility by playing on both semipro football and basketball teams. Reggie was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.

Reggie has held various positions during his career, working at A. D. Lewis Community Center, Dan’s Sport Shop, Bank One, Mutual Wholesales and as a coach at Our Lady of Fatima Middle School, St. Joseph, and Huntington High Schools.
