T.C. Clemons

Educator

Clara Tucker-Clemons has lived in Huntington for 41 years. She is a Marshall University graduate, and taught elementary education at Highlawn Elementary School. She was named Highlawn Teacher of the Year for three years. She also has been associated with Modern Teacher, the leadership team within her school, and the Strategic Planning Team for Highlawn Elementary.

Clemons is an advocate within the Tri-State in exposing all students to Black history, culture and pride. She was the 2019 Cabell County Teacher of the Year and a 2019 finalist for the West Virginia Teacher of the Year award. She received the 2021 Women of Impact award by Dress for Success, a local nonprofit organization.

She is the Elder, Praise and Worship leader at New Life Church.
