Pamela Payne Bailey

Principal/Spring Hill Elementary

Pamela Payne Bailey was the principal of Spring Hill Elementary for more than two decades.

Bailey came to Huntington from East Orange, New Jersey, in November 1970. She attended Marshall University and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Elementary Education.

Bailey began her teaching career at Barnett Child Care Center. Later, she became a substitute teacher for Cabell County Schools and was hired as a fifth-grade teacher at Spring Hill Elementary. She soon became the assistant principal there. She left Spring Hill to become the principal of Martha Elementary School, but then returned to Spring Hill, where she served as the principal for 21 years until her retirement in 2022.

Bailey also is teacher consultant for National Geographic, a position she continues to hold.
