Doris Allen Ph.D

Community Activist

Upon her arrival to Huntington, WV from Harrisonburg, VA, Doris Allen became a dedicated civil rights advocate, community leader and was helpful to those who lived in the Fairfield community. She was active with the Tri-State AIDS Task Force, the A. D. Lewis Center and the Marshall University Minority Students Program.  Ms. Allen received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from James Madison University in Virginia and was the author of two self-published book entitled THE WAY IT WAS, NOT THE WAY IT IS and JIM CROW.

Many Huntingtonians remember her best for her activism and her famous lemon cake.
