William Sloan

Coach/Mentor

A lifelong resident of Huntington, William “Billy” Sloan attended Lincoln Junior High School and graduated from Huntington High School. He enlisted in the United States Marines and served from 1976-83. He worked for Heiner’s Bakery and coached the DC Greyhounds from 2006-19. Sloan was active in the community and was always willing to help. Sloan also convinced singer Landau Eugene Murphy to stop by Huntington’s Juneteenth celebration one year to meet and take pictures with people in attendance.
